Benin Arsenals target first away points at Harmony Boys

Translate

Bendel Insurance will seek their first away points of the season when they visit Kwara United at the Rashidi Yekini Stadium in Ilorin on Sunday in Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 11.

The Benin Arsenals arrive in confident mood after a 2-1 home win over league leaders Rivers United last Sunday, which ended the Pride of Rivers’ unbeaten run. Freeman Wuchirwere put Insurance ahead early in the second half. Chijioke Oboama levelled in the 82nd minute for the visitors, but substitute Jonathan James scored in the 90th minute to win it.

That result adds to a strong home record this season, which also includes ending the unbeaten run of Barau. Insurance have 15 points from nine games, with five wins, and are seventh on the table, but their form away from home is the concern.

Kwara United, nicknamed the Harmony Boys, are 13th with 12 points from 10 matches. They picked up a point in a 0-0 draw away to Barau in Kano last weekend, and they will want to use their home ground to climb the table.

Head coach Kennedy Boboye has said his side will keep pushing and believes Ilorin has historically been a favourable ground for the Benin Arsenals. “We will keep pushing. Nothing is impossible. The league is still fresh,” he said.

Insurance also have a postponed Matchday nine fixture against Rangers, now rescheduled for Wednesday, November 4. Kick-off on Sunday is at 4pm.
