The Senate impeachment court on Thursday is expecting the appearance of two provincial government officers who will testify on the alleged properties of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio.

On the 32nd day of the impeachment trial of the vice president, Kathy Florence Baldonado appeared before the impeachment court following a subpoena issued to her.

Baldonado is the Register Deeds IV in Davao City and may comment about Carpio's alleged property in Matina.

The Senate impeachment court is currently tackling Article 2 of the Articles of Impeachment, which specifically alleges that the Vice President accumulated unexplained wealth.

As a register of deeds, Baldonado explained that her role entails real registration and issuance of land titles.

“Ako po bilang register of deeds ay nagre-rehistro or nagtatala po ng mga instrumento, mga dokumento po, or kasulatan regarding po ng mga real properties…Kami po yung nagi-issue ng katibayan ng titulo, kami rin po yung nagtatago ng mga records kaugnay dito po,” said Baldonado.

(As the Register of Deeds, I register or record instruments, documents, or deeds regarding real properties… We are the ones who issue certificates of title, and we also keep the records related to these.)

Baldonado said that she was told to bring several documents with her, such as transfer certificate of title, deed of sale, real property tax clearance, official receipt of transfer tax, and tax declarations for land, among others.

“Sa naalala ko po, ang hinihingi po ay isang certified true copy at tatlong USB drive ng mga dokumentong hawak ko po,” she said.

The net worth of Duterte and her husband reached more than P98 million in 2025, an 11.46% increase from their 2024 net worth based on their joint Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).

GMA News Research found that the Duterte-Carpio couple declared a net worth of P98,656,131.20 in 2025. The net worth they declared in the prior year was P88 million.

On the other hand, their declared total assets were P122,797,727.20, which is a 24.72% increase from the P98 million in 2024. —VAL, GMA News
