Five teenagers were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car crash in the Peak District.

The three teenage girls and two teenage boys were travelling in a blue Suzuki Swift when it crashed near the village of Chelmorton, Derbyshire, police said.

Derbyshire Constabulary said officers were called to the scene of the single-vehicle collision just after 2am on Saturday.

It happened on the A5270 Old Coalpit Lane, close to the junction of the A515.

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The teenagers' parents have all been informed.

Officers are investigating the crash and want to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time and may have seen the Suzuki before the crash.

Anyone who has information which might help is asked to contact the force by calling 101 and quoting reference 26000688247.
