Here are the official petrol and diesel prices for November 2026

Translate

South Africa’s motorists will see changes in fuel prices from Wednesday, 4 November, with petrol prices falling marginally and diesel becoming significantly cheaper.

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has published the official fuel price adjustments for November.

Petrol 93 and 95 will both decrease by just 1 cent per litre.

Diesel motorists will receive considerably more relief, with 0.05% sulphur diesel dropping by R1.10 per litre and 0.005% sulphur diesel decreasing by R1.20 per litre.

Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale) will rise by a whopping R2.75.

The adjustments come after another difficult month for fuel price recoveries, with rising international oil prices and a weaker rand putting pressure on the local fuel market.

R10 billion fuel relief package

Motorists had been facing the prospect of another substantial fuel price increase following October’s deteriorating fuel recoveries.

However, National Treasury announced a R10 billion relief package following calls from various sectors for government intervention.

The package includes a temporary reduction in the general fuel levy, effective from Wednesday, 4 November.

The levy will be reduced by R1.50 per litre for petrol and R3.00 per litre for diesel.

This is the second time in 2026 that government has introduced temporary fuel levy relief to cushion motorists against rising prices.

Slate levy offsets petrol price relief

Despite the Treasury intervention, the increase in the slate levy has largely offset the potential benefit for petrol motorists.

The late-month improvement in petrol over-recoveries was also insufficient to translate into a meaningful reduction at the pumps.

Consequently, motorists will see petrol prices decrease by only 1 cent per litre, despite the R1.50 fuel levy reduction.

Diesel motorists, meanwhile, will benefit from substantially larger decreases.

The November adjustments take effect at midnight on Tuesday, 3 November, with the new prices applying from Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
