MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains are expected in Metro Manila and several other parts of Luzon on Thursday afternoon due localized thunderstorms, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) earlier reported in its 5 a.m. weather advisory that localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains to Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon on Thursday.

In its thunderstorm advisory issued at 2:39 p.m., Pagasa saidf the following areas may expect moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong gusts of winds within the next two hours:

  • Metro Manila (Caloocan, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas, Marikina, Manila, Pasig, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Makati, Taguig, Pateros, and Pasay)
  • Batangas (Santo Tomas, Malvar, Tanauan, Balete, Lipa, Talisay, Laurel, San Nicolas, Ibaan, Batangas City, Padre Garcia, Agoncillo, Lemery, Taal, Santa Teresita, and Calaca)
  • Bulacan (Baliuag, San Rafael, Marilao, Meycauayan, Obando, Bulakan, Bocaue, Santa Maria, Norzagaray, San Jose del Monte, Pandi, Balagtas, Guiguinto, Bustos, Angat, Pulilan, Malolos, Plaridel, Paombong, Calumpit, Hagonoy, San Miguel, and San Ildefonso)
  • Cavite (Tagaytay, Alfonso, Mendez, Indang, Amadeo, and Silang)
  • Laguna (Santa Maria, Famy, Mabitac, Siniloan, Pakil, Pangil, Los Banos, Bay, Calauan, Alaminos, Santa Cruz, Pila, Victoria, San Pablo, Nagcarlan, Liliw, Rizal, Pagsanjan, Luisiana, Majayjay, Magdalena, Lumban, Cavinti, Kalayaan, and Paete)
  • Nueva Ecija (San Isidro, Cabiao, San Antonio, Gapan, General Tinio, San Leonardo, Penaranda, and Jaen)

Meanwhile, Pagasa also reported that heavy to intense rains with thunderstorms are already affecting the following areas and may persist for the next two hours:

  • Batangas (San Juan, Lobo, Rosario, and Taysan)
  • Bulacan (Dona Remedios Trinidad)
  • Pampanga (Santa Ana, Candaba, Arayat, Porac, Angeles, and Mabalacat)
  • Quezon (Polillo, General Nakar, Infanta, and Burdeos)
  • Rizal (Tanay)
  • Tarlac (Bamban, Capas, San Jose, and Mayantoc)
  • Zambales (Masinloc, Palauig, Candelaria, San Narciso, and San Marcelino)
