Lily Collins marks ‘surreal and bittersweet’ end to Emily In Paris

Lily Collins has said it feels “surreal and bittersweet” to have finished filming the final season of Emily In Paris.

Created by Sex And The City’s Darren Starr, the Netflix romantic-comedy series premiered in 2020 and stars Collins as Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper, as she navigates life in Paris after landing her dream job.

In January this year, it was announced the show had been renewed for a sixth and final season, which was also filmed in Greece.

Following the end of filming, Collins has now shared a heartfelt post on Instagram marking the end of working on the series.

“My last day on set as Emily…,” she wrote alongside a photo of her sitting in a square in Paris on a chair which had “Fin” written on the back.

“I’m speechless. It’s impossible to find the words for what this journey has meant to me. For so many years, Emily has been a part of my life, and through every season, she’s continued to surprise me, inspire me, and challenge me,” she said.

“Thank you, Darren Star, for dreaming up this endlessly optimistic American girl in Paris who finds herself constantly outside of her comfort zone, learning to trust herself while leaning on others as she navigates her new life. I’m so grateful you trusted me to bring her to life.

“Thank you to our unparalleled crew, our writers, our directors, and of course our incredible cast who is now family and who I cannot imagine this without. You have made Emily, Emily. You made this world feel like home. And merci to all of you who have been supporting us over these past 7 years and 6 seasons, keeping us inspired to dream bigger along our epic adventure.”

She added: “I will carry this chapter with me forever. Saying goodbye feels completely surreal and bittersweet, but mostly, I feel so incredibly proud and grateful that I got to be her. And be part of something so joyful. This has forever changed me. Au revoir, Emily Cooper…”

Commenting on the post, actress Mary Steenburgen, who is Collins’ mother-in-law, wrote: “We are SO proud of you Lily!!! You created a magical character that people all over the world were delighted by! I will miss Emily but I love that we get to spend even more you. You are very beloved and cherished by us all.”

Collins, 37, is the daughter of English musician Phil Collins and is married to filmmaker Charlie McDowell.

Emily In Paris also stars Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie and Lucien Laviscount, among others.

The final season of Emily In Paris is streaming from December 24 on Netflix.
