The Ekiti State Government has begun issuing appointment letters to the first batch of 1,522 newly recruited junior healthcare workers to strengthen service delivery across primary healthcare centres in the state.

The Chairman of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Funke Ogunbunmi, described the recruitment as “a significant intervention to address manpower shortages and improve essential healthcare services at the grassroots”.

Ogunbunmi, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for approving the recruitment, saying the move demonstrated his commitment to prioritising residents’ health and well-being through investments in the sector.

She said, “The recruitment reflects the governor’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare facilities and ensuring access to quality medical services in all communities.

“Adequate staffing is essential to building a functional, responsive and accessible healthcare system. The new personnel will improve operational efficiency and enhance the capacity of frontline health facilities to meet residents’ healthcare needs.”

Ogunbunmi reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that the recruits contribute meaningfully to improved healthcare outcomes in the state.

She said appointment letters were being issued to successful candidates in the categories of Laboratory Assistants, Health Assistants and Health Attendants.

According to her, the exercise began on Wednesday, October 28, at the agency’s registry in Ado Ekiti and would end on Tuesday, November 3.

She added, “The 1,522 candidates are being attended to in batches of 300 daily to ensure orderly collection and verification.

“Successful candidates have been directed to report to the registry from 10 am on their designated days with the original copies of their credentials for verification.”

The agency said appointment letters were being released only after the required documents had been verified.

It advised successful candidates to check the released list and comply with the stated requirements to facilitate the collection process.
