Motorcycle allegedly used in Makati shooting recovered – PNP

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have recovered the motorcycle allegedly used by a riding-in-tandem gunmen who fired several shots at a woman’s vehicle along Chino Roces Avenue in Makati City.

The shooting, which left the victim wounded, occurred around 6:50 a.m. on Thursday along Chino Roces Avenue in front of Unibank and BDO, beside Oriental Place in Barangay Pio del Pilar.

In a press briefing on Friday, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson P/Col. Allen Rae Co said the motorcycle’s retrieval resulted from investigators’ “back-and-forth” tracking on the incident.

“It has been confirmed that this is the same motorcycle that was used,” Co said, adding that the police also recovered other pieces of evidence “directly linking” the riders of the motorcycle to the crime. 

The PNP official did not provide further details, noting that the investigation is ongoing.

But he said the Southern Police District has already formed a Special Investigation Task Group to continue the probe.

Meanwhile, the victim is in stable condition but remains confined at Makati Medical Center, Co said.

The female victim was driving a white Nissan Terra when two men aboard a red motorcycle approached and positioned themselves beside her vehicle.

The suspects, who were reportedly wearing ride-hailing service “Move It” attire, then fired several shots, hitting the victim in the leg and thigh.

Co said they are considering the aspect that the motive of the crime is work-related, but noted that this also remains subject of further investigation.
