The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) have signed a data-sharing agreement to simplify the process of obtaining civil registry documents for personnel seeking benefits and other services.

The agreement allows the PCG to digitally verify PSA civil registry records for recruitment, pension claims, retirement benefits and other personnel-related transactions.

“Under the agreement, the PCG will be able to verify civil registry records maintained by the PSA for recruitment, retirement benefits, pension claims, and other personnel-related transactions,” the PCG said in a statement.

“The agreement also enables the digital processing of requests for civil registry documents, eliminating the need for PCG personnel and other concerned individuals to visit PSA service outlets in person,” it added.

The partnership aims to expedite processing and make essential government services more accessible to PCG personnel, retirees, pensioners and their dependents.

“It asks a simple question: when two institutions can work together to ease a person's burden, why should that burden remain on the person? Coordination is our responsibility. Service is our obligation. Dignity must be what every Filipino experiences when they come to government for help,” said PCG Commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan.—MCG, GMA News
