Bohol residents urged to wear masks as haze thickens across province

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Residents across Bohol province are being urged to wear face masks as haze continues to blanket large parts of the province. 

Some residents noticed the smoke appearing thicker on Saturday than in previous days.

Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado advised the public to take precautions and limit prolonged outdoor exposure unless necessary.

Aumentado said those who need to go outside should wear an N95 or equivalent mask for added protection, particularly children, senior citizens, and people with heart or respiratory conditions.

In Tagbilaran City, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) recorded a PM2.5 level of 70.6 at 9:07 p.m. on Sept. 18, indicating unhealthy air quality.

Residents, especially vulnerable groups, were advised to reduce prolonged outdoor activities while the haze persists.

Authorities continue to urge the public to monitor air-quality advisories and take precautions as conditions develop. INQ
