Lagosians remain winless after Sai Masu Gida draw

Translate

Sai Masu Gida were held to a 1-1 draw by the Noisy Lagosians in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday seven encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Saturday.

Valentine Ugwu stunned the home supporters by putting the visitors ahead in first-half stoppage time. The hosts responded strongly after the break, and Abdullahi Musa restored parity in the 48th minute.

Both sides created several clear-cut opportunities in search of a winning goal, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough as the contest ended all square.

The result allowed Daniel Ogunmodede’s men to maintain their unbeaten start to the new campaign and lifted them to fifth on the table. It also halted a run of home dominance, as the Kano club had won 10 of their last 11 matches on their own turf before the game.

The Lagos club, who went into the fixture sitting ninth with eight points, moved up to eighth. However, the draw extended their winless run to three matches, following a 1-1 stalemate with Barau FC and a goalless midweek outing against Ikorodu City.

Next up for the Kano side is a trip to Ibadan to face Shooting Stars, while the Noisy Lagosians will host Bendel Insurance in their next league fixture.
