Orlando Pirates transfers: Champions to lose marquee player?

Translate

Orlando Pirates are keen to add to their exciting title-winning roster, but for now, they’re preparing for a continental battle and a meeting with Kaizer Chiefs.

Pirates hopeful on Appollis

25-year-old Bafana winger Oswin Appollis came off on a stretcher in the second half of the club’s 3-0 win over TS Galaxy last time out in the Betway Premiership. However, manager Abdeslam Ouaddou is hopeful that his star man won’t be out for a lengthy period. Ouaddou cited fatigue as a potential reason for the injury. Appollis has recently been linked with a move to Portugal or France. Meanwhile, Tshepang Moremi is in the form of his life.

16 – Tshepang Moremi's goal over the weekend was the 16th he's scored for Orlando Pirates in all competitions. No player has scored more than him since he made his debut for the club in August 2025. Trustworthy. pic.twitter.com/vFbGq72MSr

Orlando Pirates prep for a big double-header

Next up for the defending Betway Premiership champions is the second leg of their CAF Champions League qualifier against African Stars on Friday, 23 October. The Buccaneers hold a 1-0 aggregate lead, and kickoff is at 19:30. After that, it’s the small matter of a Soweto Derby with Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, 31 October at 15:30.

Ouaddou backs his leaders

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has stressed the importance of dotting leaders throughout the spine of his team, with his goalkeeper setting the tone. The defending Betway Premiership champions have kept 11 clean sheets from 15 competitive matches this term. 29-year-old goalkeeper Sipho Chaine was an ever-present for the Sea Robbers, playing every single minute in the title-winning campaign.
