'MobLand' Star Reveals the Reason for Seraphina's Twist in Season 2 Episode 2

This comes as Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) has locked down her deal with Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer), after standing Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and Maeve (Helen Mirren) up at dinner. At the same time, Harry (Tom Hardy) is dealing with his divorce from Jan (Joanne Froggatt), and also finding out that his daughter Gina (Teddie Allen) is not only living with Eddie (Anson Boon), but she's running jobs with him. As chaos descends on the Harrigans (and the Da Souzas by proxy), the Guy Ritchie crime thriller is clearly gearing up for an even more chaotic Season 2.

Collider spoke with Boon, Allen, and Dhillon about who is the biggest threat in MobLand Season 2 and where their characters stand at this point. After her reunion with her mother, Gina seems to be handling Eddie just fine, but Boon and Allen talk about the potential deeper connection between the two lovers. What might have started as a way to piss off Harry has turned into something more. Meanwhile, Dhillon discusses Seraphina's reasoning for why she sides with Kat and what makes her go against her own family this season after a major tragedy in Season 1.

Anson Boon and Teddie Allen Break Down Eddie and Gina's Unlikely Romance

"Gina and Eddie have found a real common ground."

COLLIDER: Teddie, Anson, I want to talk about Eddie and Gina's cute little relationship. Anson, there are a couple of moments in the season where Maeve not-so-subtly tries to push Gina away, and Eddie kind of pushes back on that. Do you think there's actually real feelings on his behalf, or is he just still acting out?

ANSON BOON: I 100% think there are real feelings now between Eddie and Gina. I think in Series 1, it was part of Eddie's plan to get at Harry, and he thought, how could he hurt Harry the most? And it would be to get with Harry's daughter. But I think in spending so much time together, Gina and Eddie have found a real common ground because nobody else can relate to their lived experience, like being raised by these gangsters and being totally isolated. Also, they both went to really posh schools in London, and they both grew up with this lifestyle in between the Cotswolds and the city and stuff. I just think they have a lot in common.

And to be honest with you, as the actor playing Eddie, I'm quite proud of him for standing his ground against his grandma. He doesn't stand his ground against her a lot, but stand his ground and say, "No, actually, Gina's really good," and she is really good, and they make a great team.

I do enjoy whenever he's like, "She's actually really helpful!" and trying to stick up for her.

BOON: She's a natural!

Teddie, on Gina's side, in Episode 2 she meets with her mom, and she says, "I can handle Eddie." Is she playing an angle on Eddie? Does she have an angle to working on him, or is it also a genuine connection that she's feeling that she's maybe not revealing to her mom?

TEDDIE ALLEN: I like to think that she does have some sort of feelings for him, but I think she's a very clever girl, and that's just her way of letting on to her mother that she does have it in control, even though it might not look like that, because Eddie is obviously such a wild character, and her mom knows that. Her dad knows that because he's had to pick up the pieces for him for years and years and years. But I do think she's got a good grip on the situation. I think that's her way of saying she's not in over her head with him emotionally, or in terms of the work that they're doing.

Her mom's fallen for a bad boy before, so I think she understands.

ALLEN: Yeah, exactly. She gets it.

Mandeep Dhillon Reveals Seraphina's True Intention in 'MobLand' Season 2

Mandeep, Seraphina begins a partnership with Kat in this episode that I don't think is the best idea for her. What do you think ultimately pushes her to agree to that deal with her?

MANDEEP DHILLON: I think it's a thing of never wanting to be in a position where she has such a close experience with death, actually. Also, she's very smart, and she can see ahead of her, and she can see that this ship is sinking. She's very aware that, "Okay, if it's sinking, I'm not going to sink with it." So, she's making moves for herself, and that is honestly, I believe, her driving force.

Also, even though she is doing this with Kat, I feel like Seraphina 100% wants to then take Kat down. Like, Seraphina's going for the top of the top of the top. She wants that power. She wants to be able to be the person who can not only just make moves, but actually sit back and rest for a bit in life and be like, "Okay, cool, I can delegate. You guys do you." She's business savvy enough to know how it should all be run.

Unfortunately, the people around her, her family, there are so many holes in what they're doing. It's not working, and something's got to give. And I feel like that's her main reasoning behind going with Kat.

Who Is the Bigger Threat in Season 2 of 'MobLand'?

Just to wrap up really quickly for the three of you, who should we be worried more about in Season 2, Maeve or Conrad?

ALLEN: I think always Maeve.

BOON: Yeah, Maeve. She's the puppet master.

ALLEN: I mean, Conrad is very quick off the trigger, but she really is the puppet master. She's just got fingers in all of the pies.

DHILLON: I agree. I do think Maeve. However, I do think Conrad right now is going through something, and the thing that he's going through is taking whatever logic he did have out of it, as well. So I feel like even the start of Episode 1, he's not thinking ahead. He's just doing things. And so that is also a little bit dangerous.

ALLEN: He's a loose cannon.

BOON: Basically, don't trust either of them.

DHILLON: Don't trust either of them, yeah. They're not to be trusted.

BOON: Do what's good for ya.
