Manila Water expands sewer network to 500 km as of July 2026

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water has expanded its sewer network to 500.08 kilometers as of July 2026, marking a significant milestone in its continuing efforts to improve sewer services and protect public health and the environment across its service area.

The milestone reflects Manila Water’s long-term commitment to expanding access to sewer services and supporting cleaner waterways through sustained investments in sanitation infrastructure.

Sewer lines collect and convey wastewater from homes, establishments, and communities for proper treatment before safe discharge to the environment.

“Every kilometer of sewer line we build strengthens our ability to deliver essential wastewater services that help protect both public health and the environment. This growing network allows us to serve more customers while contributing to cleaner rivers and healthier communities,” Manila Water Corporate Communications Group Head Dittie Galang said.

Beyond expanding its network, Manila Water continues to maintain its sewer infrastructure to ensure reliable service. In July alone, the company cleaned and maintained 21.41 kilometers of sewer lines. A total of 11 sewer main blockages and 70 household sewer connection blockages were reported during the month, all of which were promptly addressed and resolved.

The company’s expanding sewer network also supports increased customer access to wastewater services. Manila Water recorded a net increase of 699 sewer service connections in July, bringing the year-to-date total net increase to 5,225 connections.

As of end-July 2026, Manila Water provides sewer services to 372,610 connections across its East Zone concession area. These include customers served through separate sewer systems, combined sewer-drainage systems, hybrid systems, and private sewage treatment plant connections.

Manila Water continues to pursue sewerage expansion projects as part of its commitment to support government sanitation objectives, safeguard water resources, and improve the quality of life of the communities it serves.
