WATCH: 4 amici curiae presented as court reviews voting threshold

MANILA, Philippines – Presiding Officer Francis Escudero, in his opening remarks on Day 25 of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, says the impeachment court invited retired Supreme Court justices to serve as amici curiae to assist senator-judges in determining the voting threshold required to convict Duterte.

The retired justices invited were former Chief Justices Artemio Panganiban, Reynato Puno, and Hilario Davide Jr., as well as former Associate Justice Adolfo Azcuna.

Davide was unable to attend the proceedings in person but submitted his views in a memorandum to the impeachment court./dp
