The development followed the bank’s regulatory approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to convert to a regional commercial bank in June.

The lender attained full-fledged commercial bank status after meeting the CBN’s revised minimum capital requirements of ₦50 billion.

At its annual general meeting in May, Abbey Mortgage Bank also obtained shareholders’ approval to establish a ₦100 billion debt issuance programme.

The bank’s total assets stood at ₦222.4 billion as of March 2026, up from ₦165.8 billion at the end of December 2025, according to its latest earnings report.
