Malaysian police arrest woman over viral shopping mall brawl

Malaysian police have arrested a 25-year-old woman who allegedly caused a disturbance by assaulting visitors at a shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur, with the suspect admitting her involvement in the incident.
Dang Wangi OCPD Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Azwan Amin Nordin said the local woman was arrested at about 5.40pm on Tuesday in Bandar Sri Damansara to assist in investigations.
“Initial investigations found that the suspect admitted to being involved in the incident,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
The case was reported on Sunday following several incidents involving a woman allegedly harassing visitors and customers at the shopping mall.
Police initially received a report from the plaza’s building manager at 7.59pm on Sunday, involving three separate incidents of disturbance allegedly caused by the woman.
Police also received a report from a victim who said that the woman had pushed and assaulted his two children on the same day.
The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
The incident attracted public attention after a 35-second video went viral on social media, showing a heated argument and an alleged slapping incident between the children’s father and the woman at the mall.
Police have urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2146 0522 or 03-2146 0585, the Dang Wangi district control centre at 03-2600 2222 or visit the nearest police station.
