Nine lucky South Africans share R25 million PowerBall Xtra prize

Friday, 30 October’s guaranteed R25 million PowerBall Xtra jackpot was shared by no fewer than nine lucky players.

As a reminder, under national Lottery operator Sizekhaya’s rules, if nobody hits the PowerBall Xtra jackpot in the final draw of the month, the entire prize automatically cascades down to the next winning division, rather than rolling over again.

And that’s exactly what happened last Friday.

No one correctly predicted the five PowerBall Xtra numbers as well as the bonus ball. In fact, no one picked the five numbers which is ‘Division 2’.

However, nine players had four correct numbers plus the bonus ball. They each pocketed R2 814 061.90.

The numbers drawn were 6, 24, 29, 36 and 37 while the bonus ball was 2.

No winner otherwise

In every month since Sizekhaya took over on 1 June 2026, the final draw has seen the jackpot cascade down to a lower division to find a jackpot winner.

On 30 June, the estimated R139 million PowerBall Xtra jackpot cascaded down to Division 2, creating three overnight multimillionaires, each walking away with R45 733 457.30.

On 31 July, one lucky player scooped R23 810 456.50 after they were the only player to pick the five correct numbers after no one picked the five numbers plus bonus ball.

On 28 August, once again, one player walked away R21 062 766.20 richer after they also picked the five correct numbers without the bonus ball after no one had done so in the month’s final draw.

On 29 September, no one matched the top two criteria for winning the PowerBall Xtra jackpot. In the end, as many as 15 players each won R1 388 743.20 after matching four numbers plus the bonus ball.

That’s now 29 players in total who have become multimillionaires who previously wouldn’t have been catapulted onto South Africa’s richest list.

Jackpot reset

The PowerBall jackpot was not won last Friday. The jackpot ahead of the next draw on Tuesday, 3 November now stands at a guaranteed R45 million while the PowerBall Xtra jackpot has reset to an estimated R3 million.
