Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Central Jakarta Immigration Office apprehended seven foreign nationals suspected of misusing their residence permits during a joint operation at the Green Pramuka City apartment complex on Wednesday.

"Inspections were conducted to verify the validity of documents and ensure the type of immigration permit matched the activities conducted while in Indonesia," said Central Jakarta Immigration Office Chief M. Iqbal Ma'ruf.

Ma'ruf noted that officers inspected passports, travel documents, and visas across various units and common areas of the complex.

The sweep netted six men and one woman from Nigeria, India, Liberia, and Saudi Arabia.

The individuals were identified as Nigerian nationals MDC, IIS, and OBE; Indian national SS; Saudi national ANAM; and Liberian nationals SZP and TAG (a female).

All seven suspects were brought to the Central Jakarta Immigration Office for further questioning and formal investigation.

"The Wira Waspada Joint Operation is part of efforts to strengthen immigration data collection and supervision of foreigners' presence and activities in Central Jakarta," Ma'ruf added.
