Lunch West Indies 245 and 8 for no loss (King 5*, Campbell 0*) need 162 runs to beat Bangladesh 272 and 142 (Nayeem 52, Chase 5-36, Warrican 4-63)

John Campbell survived three lbw appeals during the only over West Indies played in their fourth-innings chase of 170 before lunch on day four of the Dhaka Test. Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck him thrice on the pads but was denied by umpire Nitin Menon each time, as West Indies knocked off eight runs from their target.

Earlier in the first session, West Indies had bowled out Bangladesh for 142 on either side of a rain break, after Bangladesh resumed overnight on 79 for 6. Batting with the lower order, No. 8 Nayeem Hasan reached his maiden Test half-century. Captain Roston Chase completed a five-wicket haul, with his 5 for 36 taking him past 100 Test wickets, while left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican finished with figures of 4 for 63.

West Indies got rid of Jaker Ali in the first over of the morning. Jaker was on 22 when he struck Warrican for a boundary. The next delivery, however, he edged the ball to Chase, who took a smart low catch in the slips.

Warrican dropped a low caught-and-bowled chance in the 32nd over, before Chase dropped Nayeem twice, both times off Warrican in successive overs. Warrican, though, got his batting partner Hasan Mahmud out a couple of overs later after Mahmud's patient 31-ball eight. Warrican spun the ball back towards the batter, who went on the back-foot but was pinned lbw.

The No. 10, Taijul Islam, walked out and connected with a reverse sweep for four, before he soon fell lbw to Chase. Nayeem reached his own half-century with a boundary and a quick single off Warrican on either side of the rain break. Nayeem himself was the last batter out when Chase got rid of him with a mishit to mid-on.

West Indies had looked set to bowl out Bangladesh for even less, with Chase having taken three wickets in the space of just ten deliveries near the end of day three. However, Nayeem's fightback before lunch ensured that by the end of the first session on day four, Bangladesh still had 161 runs to play with.
