The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Sunday warned of possible ashfall following an ash emission event at Mayon Volcano in Albay at around 5:19 p.m.

In a Facebook post, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) shared sped-up camera footage showing the event at the volcano’s summit crater.

The agency said the event generated a plume that rose 300 meters above the summit crater before drifting north-northeast, as recorded by cameras at the Mayon Volcano Observatory in Ligñon Hill, the Mayon Rest House and the Ligao Observation Station.

PHIVOLCS said Alert Level 2 remained in effect over Mayon Volcano, with entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone strictly prohibited. — MCG, GMA News
