Euromatch NPFL: Ayeni Bemoans Doma United’s Home Draw Against Ikorodu City

Translate

Doma United technical adviser Ayodeji Ayeni has expressed disappointment after his side failed to secure maximum points against Ikorodu City in their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Matchday 11 encounter.

The Savannah Tigers were held to an entertaining 2-2 draw by Ikorodu City at the Pantami Stadium on Saturday.

Fierce Battle In Gombe

Doma United took the lead in the 19th minute through Bitrus Philemon, who calmly converted a penalty.

However, the visitors responded five minutes later, with Tomiwa Awojobi finding the back of the net to restore parity.

Ikorodu City appeared to have secured all three points when Ujunwa Elijah scored in the 85th minute to give the visitors a late lead.

But Philemon emerged as Doma United’s saviour, netting deep into stoppage time to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.

Ayeni Disappointed With Home Draw

Reacting after the game, Ayeni admitted his disappointment with the result, particularly given his team’s recent struggles to maximise home advantage.

“My reaction is negative for a team that played three home games and drew two and won one,” Ayeni said.

“For a team that started the season on a bright note, but skipped along the line.

“But be it as it may, that’s football, as the chemistry with us isn’t just there.”

The draw leaves Doma United in 10th position on the NPFL table with 15 points from 11 matches.

Ayeni’s side will now turn their attention to their next league fixture, where they will travel to face Abia Warriors.
