‘Colin From Accounts’ Maker Easy Tiger Adapting Dervla McTiernan Novel ‘Three Reasons For Revenge’ As TV Series

EXCLUSIVE: Colin From Accounts producer Easy Tiger has secured TV rights for Dervla McTiernan‘s bestselling psychological thriller novel Three Reasons For Revenge.

Following what sources called a “heated auction,” the Australia-based Easy Tiger has attached Shaun Grant (The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Snowtown) to write the screenplay for a TV series. No broadcaster or streamer is attached yet, with Easy Tiger set to take it out to market.

The deal was negotiated by Dan Conaway and Tom Ishizuka from literary agency Writers House.

Three Reasons For Revenge hit the top of Australia’s bestseller charts after it was published earlier this year, as McTiernan’s latest novel.

The thriller tells the story of of “three seemingly unconnected people caught in a lethal web of deceit and unhealed wounds.” Per the synopsis, “Three mysterious gifts are delivered to three very different houses in Melbourne; each gift is perfectly tailored to its recipient – and each will tear apart the life of its intended victim.”

McTiernan has had several of her previous projects optioned, including debut novel The Ruin, which was set at Colin Farrell’s production house, Chapel Place Productions, back in 2019. Her thrillers What Happened to Nina? and The Murder Rule were also developed for screen, the latter at FX.

“From the moment I first read Three Reasons for Revenge I immediately envisaged it as a television series,” said writer Grant. “It is a supremely crafted thriller full of surprises, and I thank Dervla for entrusting Easy Tiger and myself with her creation.”

“There’s no doubt Dervla’s highly entertaining book will find a place not only on your shelves but on your TV screen,” added Rob Gibson, CEO of Easy Tiger. “Dervla is a master at creating a gripping thriller plot and Shaun is the perfect writer to adapt her book. We’re so delighted to be working with them both.”

Easy Tiger is one of the more prolific Australian production houses, with Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer’s Binge comedy Colin From Accounts breaking out in the UK on the BBC and in the U.S. on Paramount+. The romantic comedy ended this year after three seasons.

Other major Easy Tiger productions include legal drama The Twelve, Stan mystery thriller Scrublands, Netflix’s Territory, ABC’s Rake and Jack Irish and Disney movie Saving Mr Banks
