‘SNL’ Opens Season With Mamdani Hanging Out With BFF Trump, Natalie Harp Going ‘Obsession’ Over President

Season 52 of “Saturday Night Live” opened with its usual cold open, and it involved two unlikely political BFFs.

Ramy Youssef stopped by to play New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whose office was visited by James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump. The pair discussed the storm currently slamming the East Coast, the Knicks’ championship, this week’s U.N. meeting in NYC and Trump’s recent hosting of China President Xi Jinping.

Soon enough, their discussion was interrupted by Natalie Harp, Trump’s much-discussed appointments secretary. Played by Ashley Padilla, Harp evoked “Obsession” character Nikki.

Despite the storm, “I ran here from D.C., ‘Weapons’ style,” Harp said.

Jalen Brunson is hosting the season premiere with Katseye as the musical guest. The episode is also the debut of new cast members Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter.
