Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed that contacts between the leaderships of Egypt and Saudi Arabia are ongoing within the framework of continuous consultations between the two countries regarding regional developments, RT Arabic reported.

In televised remarks on Thursday evening, Abdelatty stated that the recent phone call between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was “brotherly and initiated by Prince Mohammed bin Salman.” He added that both leaders agreed on “continuing, strengthening, and deepening consultations between the two nations, as well as enhancing communication.”

The Egyptian minister emphasized that “the relationship between Egypt and the Kingdom is an eternal one, defined not only by the bonds between the two brotherly peoples or historical ties, but also by a shared destiny and common interests.”

He added, “The security of the Kingdom is integral to the security of Egypt, and likewise, the security of Egypt is integral to the security of the Kingdom, falling within the framework of integration between Egyptian security and Gulf state security.”

Last week, the Egyptian President received a phone call from the Saudi Crown Prince discussing overall bilateral relations. President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of continuing to drive and strengthen various areas of bilateral cooperation to achieve shared interests and meet the aspirations of both brotherly nations and peoples toward development, prosperity, and improved regional conditions.

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President congratulated the Saudi Crown Prince on the upcoming Saudi National Day, expressing his wishes for continued stability and prosperity for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The spokesperson noted that El-Sisi also stressed the unity of destiny between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, underlining the importance of joint action to overcome the challenges facing the region and its nations, while reiterating that the security of Saudi Arabia and all Arab states is an extension of Egyptian national security.
