Speaker Dy mourns death of Quirino Gov. Dax Cua

MANILA, Philippines — “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Quirino Governor Dakila Carlo “Dax” Cua,” House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy said in a statement on Wednesday.

“For those of us who knew and worked with Dax, we mourn more than the loss of a leader. We mourn a colleague and a kailian [countryman] whose commitment to public service touched so many lives,” Dy added.

“His service extended far beyond Quirino,” he added.

Dy noted that Cua, as president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, was one of the strong voices of local governments, a leader who believed that LGUs could be a partner not only in the progress of communities but also in the progress of the whole country.

Dy extended to Cua’s family, including his father, former Quirino Rep. Junie Cua, and wife, Quirino Rep. Midy Cua.

“Walang mga salita ang sapat sa ganitong uri ng pagkawala. Kasama ninyo kami sa pagdadalamhati at sa pagpupugay sa buhay ng isang mabuting anak, asawa, ama, kaibigan, at lingkod-bayan.” Dy said.

(“There are not enough words for this kind of loss. We are with you in mourning and in honoring the life of a good son, husband, father, friend, and public servant.”)

“Nakikiramay rin ako sa buong lalawigan ng Quirino na nawalan ng isang lider na naglaan ng malaking bahagi ng kanyang buhay sa paglilingkod sa kanyang mga kababayan,” he added.

(“We also condole with the entire province of Quirino, which has lost a leader who dedicated a big part of life in serving his countrymen.”)

“Agyaman kami [We are thankful], Governor Dax. Your work is done, but your service will not be forgotten. May you rest in eternal peace,” he concluded. /atm
