Townsend, Siniakova win US Open doubles for career Grand Slam together

Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend rallied to beat Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery for the US Open women’s doubles title on Friday, completing a career doubles Grand Slam.

The top seeds hadn’t dropped a set through their first four matches, and after a tense opening frame against Krueger and Montgomery — the 2021 girls’ doubles champions — they pulled away relentlessly to win 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.

American Townsend captured her first US Open doubles title. She and Siniakova had already teamed to win Wimbledon in 2024, the Australian Open in 2025 and the French Open this year.

For Siniakova, it was a 12th Grand Slam women’s doubles title and a second career Grand Slam — she won all four majors with her previous longtime partner Barbora Krejcikova.

The fiery Townsend, who has dreamed of US Open glory since she attended the tournament as a child, and Siniakova looked uncharacteristically tight as they were broken in their first service game.

They settled in to level the set at 4-4, but with some outstanding serving from Krueger the Americans fended off a pair of break points and went on to take the set when Siniakova double faulted three times in the final game.

It turned out to be just a blip as Siniakova and Townsend raced through the second set. Another couple of double faults from Siniakova added drama in the final game of the match, which went to deuce five times before she and Townsend closed it out on their first match point.
