MANILA, Philippines — An executive of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is set to testify before the Senate impeachment court on Thursday as part of the trial’s proceedings on Vice President Sara Duterte’s alleged unexplained wealth.

On Day 36 of Duterte’s impeachment trial, BIR chief of staff Anne Loraine Garcia-Marquez will serve as the House prosecution panel’s 26th witness in presenting Article II of the articles of impeachment against the vice president.

Marquez’s testimony will focus on Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio’s tax records, income declarations, and tax compliance.

However, Marquez will take the witness stand only after the prosecution finishes presenting the remaining representatives of various insurance companies who will testify on millions worth of insurance policies and investments under both Duterte and Carpio.

Meanwhile, while Thursday’s trial is expected to take the whole day, the Senate will also convene a session at 1:30 p.m. the same day—but only for a short period.
