MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to continue its pursuit of former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag following an unsuccessful operation to arrest him in Ifugao.

“We will not allow the passage of time or repeated attempts to evade arrest to weaken our resolve,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said on Monday.

“Every lead will be pursued, every lawful opportunity will be acted upon, and we will not stop until they are brought before the courts to answer for the charges against them,” he added.

He said authorities would sustain efforts to serve the warrant against Bantag, who remains at large over his alleged involvement in the 2022 killing of broadcaster Percival “Percy” Mabasa.
