Studiocanal Announces Wrap Of Final Film In Ambitious German-Language ‘Woodwalkers’ Trilogy

Studiocanal has announced the official wrap of the final instalment in hit German-language trilogy Woodwalkers alongside unveiling a January 28, 2027 theatrical launch date in Germany and a first image.

A production between Blue Eyes Fiction and Studiocanal Germany, the trilogy was launched in 2024 as the partners’ most ambitious German-language production to date.

The first two instalments of the trilogy, which were distributed by Studiocanal, drew more than two million admissions in Germany, with Woodwalkers 2 described by the partners as the most successful German family film of 2026 to date.

Adapted from the best-selling novels by German writer Katja Brandis, the trilogy follows the adventures of a group of teenagers with secret shapeshifting abilities, known as ‘Woodwalkers’.

The final chapter sees protagonist Carag and his friends face their greatest challenge yet, when relentless adversary Andrew Milling declares the “Day of Vengeance”. The declaration sees Carag’s battle against his former mentor enter a decisive phase.

Production on the final chapter began this summer on location in Romania and in the German region of Bavaria and was completed this week.

Florian Sigl returned to direct with Emile Chérif also back in the role of Carag, alongside Lilli Falk as Holly, Johan von Ehrlich as Brandon, Sophie Lelenta as Lou, Olivia Sinclair as Tikaani and Emil Bloch as Jeffrey.

The adult cast was led once again by Oliver Masucci (Andrew Milling), Martina Gedeck (Lissa Clearwater), Hannah Herzsprung (Anna Ralston) and David Schütter (Carag’s father Xamber).

Behind the camera, Armin Golisano (Manitou’s Canoe) served as director of photography, Christoph Kanter (The White Ribbon, Chantal im Maerchenland) as production designer, and Mara Laibacher (Babo – The Haftbefehl Story) is costume designer.

Woodwalkers 3 is a production of Blue Eyes Fiction (Help, I Shrunk My Teacher, The Four Enchanted Sisters) with Lothar Hellinger as producer and Bianca Krippendorf as executive producer, in co-production with Studiocanal (The Robber Hotzenplotz, Paddington) and Dor Film Vienna.
