Vice President Sara Duterte thanked supporters of a movement calling for the release of former President Rodrigo Duterte from the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“Taos-puso akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga Pilipino mula sa Netherlands at kalapit nitong mga bansa na nakiisa sa inilunsad na Free Duterte Now Movement sa The Hague noong mga nakaraang buwan,” the Vice President said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

(I sincerely thank all the Filipinos from the Netherlands and nearby countries who joined the Free Duterte Now Movement launched in The Hague in recent months.)

The ICC’s Trial Chamber III on Thursday found the former president fit to stand trial for crimes against humanity in connection with his administration’s war on drugs. His trial is scheduled to begin on November 30, 2026.

Malacañang welcomed the ICC chamber’s findings and expressed hope that the 81-year-old former president would remain healthy enough to face trial.

Sara Duterte said the continued support and prayers for her father’s safe return to the Philippines give their family strength. She urged supporters to continue praying for the detained former president and the country.

“Mga kababayan, patuloy nating ipagdasal ang kapayapaan ng ating bayan, gayundin ang kaligtasan ng lahat. Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas—para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at sa bawat Pamilyang Pilipino,” she added.

(My fellow countrymen, let us continue to pray for peace in our nation, as well as the safety of everyone. Let us love the Philippines—for God, for the Country, and for every Filipino Family.) — VBL, GMA News
