Prime suspect in ‘Putney pusher’ case found dead at his west London home

The prime suspect in the notorious “Putney pusher” case has been found dead at his home in west London.

The 44-year-old man, said to be a banker, was discovered by the Met Police on Wednesday.

The force said a man was found unresponsive at a property in Chiswick, Hounslow and that his death was not being treated suspicious at this time.

The man was arrested at his home in west London on 15 June on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm following a decade-long manhunt after a female pedestrian, who has never been named, was shoved into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge in 2017.

The woman, who was 33 at the time, sustained a few minor injuries after the bus driver’s quick reaction meant he missed her head by inches.

In a statement, the Met Police said: “At 19:12hrs on Tuesday, 15 September officers and the London Ambulance Service attended an address in Chiswick, Hounslow after a man was found unresponsive inside a property.

“Sadly, a 44-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed.

“At this time his death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious.
