House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos has bolted the ruling Partido Federal ng Pilipinas to join the Lakas-CMD, sources in the House of Representatives and Lakas told GMA News.
Sandro’s father, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., ran for president under the PFP and is now the party’s chairman.
A source told GMA News that the Ilocos Norte congressman took his oath as a member of Lakas on Monday at the House complex.
Another source said Camiguin Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo administered the oath.
GMA News is getting comments from Sandro and the PFP and will publish them as soon as they are available.
Lakas has not yet issued an official statement on Sandro Marcos’ move.
Sandro’s uncle, former Speaker and Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, remains the president of Lakas.
Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III of Isabela is a member of the PFP. —NB, GMA News
