Halloween is over and the holidays are looming — that means it’s time to look ahead at TV’s midseason. ABC on Friday revealed winter 2027 dates for a number of its series including new seasons of High Potential, Will Trent, Abbott Elementary, Shifting Gears, American Idol, The Bachelor and others. See the full schedule below.

The net’s midseason sked kicks off with the Season 5 premiere of Will Trent on Tuesday, January 5, followed by the third-season arrival of High Potential, which leads in to new docuseries Surviving a Scandal. The Wednesday lineup bows January 6 with a two-episode Season 3 premiere of the Tim Allen-Kat Dennings sitcom Switching Gears. Fellow comedy Abbott Elementary‘s sixth session starts a week later on January 13

The network said last month that Season 9 of The Rookie and its new spinoff The Rookie: North will bow on January 6.

Popular dramas 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville and Grey’s Anatomy return to the Thursday night lineup with midseason premieres on Thursday, January 7. ABC’s untitled Grey’s Anatomy spinoff will debut during the 2027-28 TV season.

On the unscripted front, American Idol will kick off its silver-anniversary season on Monday, February 8, one week after the special American Idol at 25 (working title) airs. Celebrity Jeopardy! returns for Season 5 on Friday, January 29.

Elsewhere, franchise godfather The Bachelor will return on Sunday, March 21, for its first installment since early 2025. Season 30 was ordered in June that year, three months after two of its top showrunners exited among allegations of a “toxic” workplace. Network brass said in April that The Bachelor would return in 2027.
