Johnny Depp Open To Reprising ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Role To “Send Them Off On A Better Note”

Johnny Depp is open to revisiting the Pirates of the Caribbean universe and reprising his role as Jack Sparrow.
In a new interview, Depp revealed that he is open to working with Jerry Bruckheimer again.
“If things are exactly where they need to be with regard to how they are going to top off the Pirates franchise… the only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note,” the actor said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
He continued, “I will go to work with [Jerry] Bruckheimer tomorrow for anything. Doesn’t matter… if it’s Jerry, I trust him. We have a deep friendship.”
At D23 earlier this year, Jerry Bruckheimer gave Deadline an update on Pirates of the Caribbean 6, saying, “We’re talking with Johnny [Depp], we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done.”
Depp first played Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. In 2006, the actor reprised his role in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and did the same in 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
The actor returned to the role for 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and played Jack Sparrow one more time in 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
A couple of films expanding the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise are in the works. In 2024, Bruckheimer told EW that the “reboot has Jeff Nathanson doing the script, with the Robbie-centric film being written by Christina Hodson.”
