‘The Studio’ Co-Creator Alex Gregory Developing Hamptons-Set Drama Series ‘Further Lane’ At HBO

EXCLUSIVE: The Studio co-creator and Veep executive producer Alex Gregory is developing the new drama series Further Lane, which has landed at HBO in a competitive situation. Gregory will write and executive produce, with T-Street and New Yorker Studios attached to produce.
The project marks the writer and producer’s first solo TV series since winning four group Emmys and a Golden Globe for co-creating The Studio.
The series is inspired by Emily Witt’s original reporting for The New Yorker and is set over the course of a summer in the Hamptons. Further Lane explores how wealth and ambition impact the relationships of a wealthy family and their household staff.
Gregory received the material from T-Street, which he connected to his own memories of growing up around the working communities of the Hamptons and how they intersected with a world of extraordinary wealth and privilege.
Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodriguez executive produce for T-Street, with Allegra Greenland serving as co-executive producer. Helen Estabrook and Lajoie St. George are executive producers for New Yorker Studios. Emily Witt is consulting producer.
T-Street is a production company founded by writer/director Johnson and producer Bergman, the duo behind the Knives Out franchise, Looper, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. T-Street’s TV series include Emmy-winning series Poker Face and the upcoming FX series Disinherited, created by Peter Gould (Better Call Saul), as well as Emmy-nominated 3 Body Problem and The Hawk. T-Street’s films include Oscar-winning American Fiction, Fair Play, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, Turpentine, and 2034.
In addition to his contributions to Apple TV’s The Studio and HBO’s Veep, Gregory also co-created the HBO limited series White House Plumbers. He is repped by WME.
