Travis Kelce's return to Ohio was supposed to offer a chance to enjoy a quieter life away from the demands of professional football. However, settling into his new $5.35 million Bratenahl mansion has brought unexpected complications.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is now facing resistance from people living nearby, with concerns about his property plans reaching the village's architectural review board. The latest disagreement adds another challenge to Kelce's efforts to establish a private retreat close to his hometown of Cleveland Heights.

Travis Kelce's Ohio mansion becomes the center of a neighborhood dispute

Travis Kelce's latest property troubles have put his new Lake Erie estate under scrutiny. Neighbors recently raised objections at a Village of Bratenahl Architectural Review Board meeting over proposed changes to the rear of the property. While the disagreement involves landscaping, the concerns extend beyond the appearance of the mansion. Residents questioned whether removing existing trees and planting new ones could affect their views of Lake Erie. They also raised concerns about possible damage to a shared sewer line that has reportedly been in place for around a century.Another sticking point was the proposed height of the replacement trees.

Bratenahl's regulations set a 10-foot limit, and the original proposal did not meet that requirement. The board decided to delay its decision and requested a revised plan. Officials are expected to revisit the matter at their November 10 meeting. For Kelce, the situation creates an awkward start to life at a property that represents a major investment. The mansion is located just a few miles from Cleveland Heights, where the NFL star grew up.

His connection to Ohio runs deep, making the purchase more than just another luxury real estate deal.

Travis Kelce's privacy concerns add another layer to Ohio mansion drama

The neighborhood disagreement comes after Kelce and his wife, Taylor Swift, reportedly introduced additional security measures at the property.According to Page Six, the couple installed an audible warning system designed to alert people who get too close to the estate. One neighbor described an encounter with the system to the publication.“A neighbor approached the house and got a voice warning about not passing onto the property after getting too close to the house,” another neighbor told the publication. The security arrangements have also drawn attention to privacy concerns surrounding the couple's arrival in Bratenahl. The village already has its own police force, although discussions about additional security have reportedly emerged as high-profile residents move into the area.

Kelce purchased the $5.35 million estate as part of his growing property portfolio. He also owns a mansion near Kansas City, reportedly worth around $6 million, and previously bought a home in the city's Briarcliff West neighborhood. His Ohio investment gives him another place close to family and familiar surroundings. However, the latest neighborhood dispute suggests that enjoying the privacy and comfort of his new home may take more work than expected.
