Kano Pillars coach eyes Enyimba scalp

Kano Pillars assistant coach Okechukwu Ejeh has declared that his side are not going into Sunday’s clash with bottom-of-the-table Enyimba for “a tea party,” insisting the unbeaten hosts are targeting nothing less than the three points at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

“We are not here for a tea party. We are here for serious business. We are here to get the 3 points.

“We are mentally ready, physically ready and tactically ready for this game. Believe me, we are optimistic that we are not leaving this ancient city empty-handed,” Ejeh said.

Kano Pillars go into the match unbeaten and have scored ten goals in four games this season, Rabiu Ali, Fabian Nworie and Ubong Friday among the scorers with two apiece, though they were held to a 1-1 draw by Inter Lagos in midweek after netting seven across two home wins.

Enyimba, by contrast, sit bottom of the table without a point, their run extending to four straight defeats after a 3-2 loss away at Sporting Lagos on Wednesday.

Ejeh also addressed Kano Pillars’ broader ambitions for the season despite the early pressure.

“Our vision still remains to be on the continent. We are not too worried about our position for now. We will get the continental ticket,” he said.
