Actor Ahmed al-Awady apologizes to Yasmin Abdel Aziz following controversial car analogy

Egyptian actor Ahmed al-Awady has addressed the controversy sweeping social media following a recent media appearance in which he used cars as an analogy for different stages of his life—a remark that sparked backlash and negative reactions online.

Clarifying his comments during his appearance on the show Qessati (“My Story”), Awady wrote in a Facebook post: “I truly meant no disrespect to anyone on Qessati, and I hold full respect for all.”

He continued: “The circulating statements regarding cars and the way they were interpreted rest entirely on those spreading them. I did not mean what some understood at all; the comparison was referring to stages of life, not romantic relationships.”

Awady added: “I apologize if anyone misunderstood the core message of my words. I hold all the respect and appreciation for the Arab world’s leading star, and I have stated repeatedly throughout the interview that I cherish fond memories of everyone who has entered my life.”

“I apologize to her if some misinterpreted my words. An apology is necessary whenever my remarks are taken out of context. This post is to set the record straight, and I reiterate my apology once more.”

The actor concluded his statement by saying: “On that note, I owe a great deal to Yasmin Abdel Aziz throughout my career. I deeply value and respect her, and I wish her continued success and brilliance, as always.”
