Khune backs Kaizer Chiefs to sign Bafana winger, compares him to Jabu Pule

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has backed Amakhosi to sign Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana, believing the attacker could bring goals, creativity and valuable experience to the Soweto giants.

The 27-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Tunisian giants Esperance.

The former Sekhukhune United star has been linked with a possible move to Naturena, with Khune convinced that he would be a valuable addition to the Chiefs squad.

Speaking to Andile Ncube on Soccerzone, Khune praised Mokwana’s individual ability and attacking qualities, drawing comparisons between the winger and former Chiefs star Jabu “Shuffle” Pule, who later became known as Jabu Mahlangu.

“Definitely! Mokwana reminds me of Jabu ‘Shuffle’ Pule back then, formerly then, but now Mahlangu,” Khune said.

“Very skilful, he’s not shy to take on players. He can create goals; he can score goals.

“So, he’ll be a great addition to the team because of his experience, continental experience.”

Khune Believes Mokwana Can Help Chiefs Return to Continental Football

Beyond his attacking qualities, Khune believes Mokwana’s experience at continental level could benefit Chiefs, particularly the club’s younger players.

The former goalkeeper feels the Bafana Bafana international could help guide the next generation of Amakhosi stars while bringing valuable knowledge of competing in African football.

Khune feels Mokwana can be a good addition for Chiefs

“These young boys will be looking up to him, and he’ll be holding their hands to say, ‘Guys, come with me, let’s go back to continental football. I know what it’s all about’,” Khune added.

“And definitely he’ll be a great addition and take the club forward.”

Khune’s endorsement comes as Chiefs continue to be linked with potential reinforcements. Mokwana’s availability as a free agent could make him an option for the Soweto giants as they look to strengthen their squad.

Kaizer Chiefs are in action this weekend against Orlando Pirates in a Soweto Derby.
