Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina has joined a rare club of women on Monday after her US Open triumph in the past fortnight in New York.

The 27-year-old Rybakina is the 30th different woman to be ranked World No. 1 in the WTA Rankings since the introduction of the computerised ranking system on 3 November 1975.

Rybakina had already ended Aryna Sabalenka’s 99-week stay at the top of the rankings by reaching the semifinals but the Kazakh made it even better by defeating two-time defending champion from Belarus in the summit clash at Flushing Meadows.
