Anwar to outline Malaysia’s vision for inclusive global growth at Brics summit

NEW DELHI, Sept 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is  scheduled to deliver a National Statement on Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Growth at the 18th Brics Leaders’ Summit here today.

He is expected to emphasise the importance of strengthening cooperation among Brics member and partner countries in addressing development challenges, expanding economic opportunities and ensuring that the benefits of technological advancement and innovation are enjoyed more inclusively by all countries.

Malaysia’s participation in the summit is in its capacity as a Brics partner country, a status held since Jan 1, 2025.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, was accompanied by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

The Prime Minister will also join in for a family photo with Brics leaders, partners and outreach invitees before heading to Kozhikode (Calicut), Keralam for the second leg of his visit in India.

In Keralam, he will meet with the Grand Mufti of India, Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad, to exchange perspectives on community development, educational advancement, and interfaith harmony. 

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Thiru V. D. Satheesan and Governor of Keralam Thiru Rajendra Vishwanath Arleka.

The engagements aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and the state of Keralam across key sectors such as trade and investment, tourism, healthcare and education.
