KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — For many gamers, Capcom is synonymous with some of Japan’s best known video game franchises, including Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter, and is regarded as one of the industry’s most influential Japanese publishers.

The company’s published games have a following in Malaysia, with its franchises also appearing at gaming events and other related activities in the country.

That interest has also seen Capcom bring its official merchandise closer to local fans through the Capcom Pop-Up Store Malaysia, which has now returned for its third edition.

The latest pop-up will run for more than three months at ACG Base, LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre, until December 27.

Unlike the previous editions, which were held for shorter periods in Kuala Lumpur in 2025 and Johor Bahru earlier this year, the current edition is the longest-running Capcom pop-up in Malaysia to date.

It also returns to the same venue as the first Malaysian pop-up held last year, and this time, it features around 350 official merchandise items, making it the largest selection offered at the Malaysian pop-up so far.

Organised by JUSTDAN Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the merchandise covers franchises including Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Ace Attorney and Dragon’s Dogma, among others.

Products range from plush toys and figurines to blind boxes, models and everyday items.

The pop-up comes as Capcom continues to expand the retail presence of its game franchises beyond video games.

The Japanese publisher operates permanent Capcom Store locations across Japan, while its overseas network includes the Capcom Stores in Taipei and Shanghai.

Malaysia currently gets Capcom merchandise only through limited-time pop-ups, as there is no permanent store yet, although the organiser told Malay Mail they hope a permanent outlet can eventually be established here.

Capcom’s retail expansion comes alongside strong sales of its game portfolio.

According to Capcom’s official website, the company reported an all-time high of 59.07 million consumer home video game units sold for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, while recording its ninth consecutive year of record profit across all profit categories.

Several of its game franchises have also been adapted for film, including Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter.

The latest pop-up also arrives as the new Sony Pictures’ Resident Evil hit Malaysian cinemas on September 16 to positive reviews, while Street Fighter is set to return to the big screen next month with a new live-action adaptation.

Capcom’s two previous Malaysian pop-up stores have seen positive turnout, with long-time fans and new generations of gamers showing interest in the company’s video game franchises.

The 2026 Capcom Pop-Up Store Malaysia, this time, will also introduce two Malaysia-exclusive items in separate waves.

A limited-edition Capcom Malaysia T-shirt featuring an oversized, relaxed fit will be available from opening day, while an eco-friendly tote bag will be released at a later date, with the date to be announced.

Both items will be available in limited quantities while stocks last.

Visitors who spend at least RM100 at the store will also receive a complimentary Capcom Pop-Up Store Malaysia postcard, subject to availability.

The store is located at L2-39A and L2-39B, LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre.

It will operate from 11 am to 10 pm today, before opening daily from 10am to 10pm from September 25 through December 27.
