Uzoka-Anite to lead discourse on Africa’s sovereign credit ratings

Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite
The Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, is slated to outline the policy, institutional, and economic reforms required to strengthen sovereign credit profiles across Africa at DataPro Limited’s upcoming sixth International Rating Webinar.
Delivering the keynote address on the topic, “Achieving Investment Grade Rating by 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria,” Uzoka-Anite will offer insights into economic planning, fiscal management, public-sector reforms, investment mobilization, and measures designed to reinforce macroeconomic resilience and investor confidence. The virtual event, themed “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status,” is scheduled for October 8, 2026.
DataPro noted via its official X handle that Uzoka-Anite’s extensive background in public policy, economic management, trade, and fiscal administration positions her to address the structural factors driving fiscal sustainability and market trust. The discussions will center on what African economies, particularly Nigeria, must execute to attain and preserve investment-grade status. Key themes will include fiscal discipline, revenue mobilisation, debt sustainability, economic diversification, policy credibility, and institutional efficiency, alongside an analysis of rating methodologies, upgrade drivers, and access to international capital.
The forum comes against the backdrop of renewed regional dialogue surrounding the proposed African Credit Rating Agency, an initiative aimed at reshaping the continent’s risk perception and reducing borrowing costs. According to DataPro, achieving sovereign credibility demands systematic adherence to quantitative and qualitative economic parameters. The rating agency emphasized that sound fiscal policies, debt sustainability, and predictable governance remain vital for channeling international capital into infrastructure, productive capacity, and private-sector development.
“The journey toward full investment-grade status requires deliberate adherence to qualitative and quantitative economic disciplines capable of strengthening investor confidence and enhancing sovereign credibility in the international financial market,” DataPro stated.
