KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — Mirabel Ting emerged as the best-performing Malaysian for the third consecutive year at the Maybank Championship 2026 despite a challenging final round at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) here today.

The 21-year-old carded a one-under 71 in the final round, sinking four birdies at the third, 11th, 13th and 18th holes, but was held back by three bogeys at the second, fourth and 10th holes to finish tied for 48th place with a four-day total of five-under 283.

Mirabel admitted that her putting remained a major concern throughout the tournament but was pleased to finish her campaign with another under-par round.

“Well, it was tough, but I still finished under par, which is a good thing, but again, it’s always tough to see the putts not dropping and a couple of mistakes on putting today.

“And I think that’s about it,” she told reporters after completing her final round here today.

Reflecting on her overall performance, Mirabel said the tournament had provided valuable lessons as she continued to adjust to the demands of professional golf.

“Not great, not horrible, not the best, frustrating. I mean, a lot of things that I can say, but I don’t really want to look at the bad side of my round, but more like looking at the bright side of what can be better.

“But there’s a lot of fixing definitely on the putting,” she said.

Despite finishing as the country’s leading player for the third straight edition, Mirabel said personal improvement remained more important than her position among the Malaysian participants.

Meanwhile, fellow Malaysian Natasha Oon finished tied for 56th place after carding a one-under 71 today for a four-day total of two-under 286.

Liyana Durisic, who began the tournament with an impressive five-under 67, finished tied for 66th place with a two-over 290 after recording a two-over 74 in the final round.

Another national golfer, Kelly Tan, ended her campaign in 75th place with a six-over 294 after also carding a two-over 74 today, while Genevieve Ling finished in 76th place with a total of 9 over 297 after carding par-72. — Bernama
