To Love-ru's Kentaro Yabuki Draws Nami Card for One Piece Card Game
The One Piece franchise announced on Monday that To Love-Ru manga artist Kentarō Yabuki is providing an illustration for the One Piece Card Game. Yabuki is drawing One Piece character Nami for the "One Piece Heroines Edition vol.2 [EB-05]" booster set (the game's second extra booster set) on October 31. The card will come in two variations:
The One Piece's English social media accounts teased the new extra booster set with a short promotional video on Monday:
The One Piece Card Game is no stranger to collaborations with prominent artists. The card game announced in August it partnered with renowned Final Fantasy series illustrator Yoshitaka Amano for special illustration cards of One Piece's Loki and Saint Figarland Shamrock for the forthcoming "-The Dominance of God-" booster set, the game's 18th set, in November.
Eiichiro Oda has been drawing the One Piece manga since 1997, and Shueisha teased in 2020 that the "story is in the final stage." Toei Animation has been adapting the manga for television since 1999, although it announced in 2025 that it will be only producing a maximum of 26 episodes a year from now on. (The Nami card ties into the anime of the One Piece: Heroines light novel series that premiered in July.) Netflix began streaming a live-action version in 2023, and it will stream an anime remake, this time from Wit Studio, next February.
Yakubi is best known as the illustrator for the To Love-Ru manga series. To Love-Ru ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between 2006 and 2009. A sequel series, To LOVEru DARKNESS, then ran in Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine between 2010 and 2017. To Love-Ru received an anime adaptation in 2007 and 2010, and so did its sequel 2012 and 2014. Both manga series also bundled OVA episodes with limited edition of certain volumes in Japan.
