After Morocco, Tokyo ticket troubles, Arkia launches discounted eSIM deal for passengers

Translate

Arkia Israel Airlines launched a partnership with Israeli eSIM provider Voye Global, offering passengers discounted mobile data packages for use overseas, the companies announced on November 2.

Under the agreement, Arkia customers can buy global and regional data plans, as well as packages designed specifically for travel in the United States, at discounts of about 20% to 36% off standard rates.

The service uses eSIM technology, a digital SIM card built into the phone. That means travelers can connect to mobile networks overseas without swapping out their physical SIM card or hunting for a local one at the airport.

Voye Global provides eSIM-based mobile data services in more than 130 countries. The company says its service is designed to be reused on future trips and includes access to multiple mobile networks in each destination, plus 24-hour customer support in Hebrew, Russian, and Arabic.

The announcement did not specify package prices or how long the discounted rates will be available.

The company urged ticket holders to decide within 12 hours whether they wanted an alternative flight on another airline with a layover or to receive a financial refund. Arkia.

Arkia halts ticket sales to Morocco, Japan

Arkia came under public scrutiny in mid-October, when it was forced to halt ticket sales for flights to Marrakesh, Morocco, following demands from Israeli security officials.

It also sold tickets to Tokyo before Japanese authorities had approved the route, prompting a class-action lawsuit after thousands of Israelis who had bought tickets were left without flights.
