Former IDF chief Halevi says Oct. 7 was 'preventable,' but was not 'betrayal from within'

Translate

Former IDF chief of staff Herzi Halevi spoke publicly for the first time since leaving his position in March 2025, asserting that "October 7 was a preventable failure, but there was 100% no betrayal from within" on Sunday.

Halevi made the comment while speaking at a conference in New York.

He further stated that Israel should complete an investigation into the security failures surrounding the October 7 massacre as part of the national healing process.
