An 18-year old rider died after his motorcycle crashed into a tricycle in General Santos City that also killed a 70-year old passenger.

In the report of Efren Mamac for GMA Regional News One Mindanao on Wednesday, the accident occurred along Digos Madagay Road in Barangay Katangawan at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The bodies of the two fatalities and three injured passengers of the tricycle were strewn across the road.

The two persons who died were declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

The General Santos City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit said the rider was racing with two other motorcycles prior to the accident.

The rider was attempting a so-called “superman” stunt when his motorcycle struck the tricycle in front of him, said Police Captain Lamberto Rabino Jr., Deputy Chief of TEU GenSan.

Police are investigating the two other riders who were allegedly part of the race.

Efforts are being made to get comments from the families of the victims. —RF, GMA News
