KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — A total of 417 individuals were detained after an unlicensed entertainment centre, suspected to be a hub for drug activities, was raided by the police early this morning on Jalan Sultan Ismail here.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Ahmad Azwan Amin Nordin said all the arrests in the raid, which started around 2.30am, consisted of premises guards, workers and visitors, including four Bangladeshi nationals.

“The raid was conducted following information that the entertainment premises was linked to drug abuse activities.

“All those detained were brought to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters (IPD) for documentation and urine screening tests,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, in a separate raid, the police arrested eight individuals, including six foreigners, at another unlicensed entertainment centre on Jalan Tun Razak, around 2am earlier today.

Wangsa Maju IPD chief ACP Annas Sulaiman said the ‘Op Noda’ raid was carried out by a team of officers and members from the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7), along with the Wangsa Maju IPD Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID).

“Eight men who were arrested were aged between 21 and 40 years, including six foreigners, namely two each from Bangladesh and Myanmar who did not have valid travel documents, as well as two from China,” he also said.

Annas added that the police also seized various audio system equipment including two Pioneer brand DJ Multi Players, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, four bottles of various brands of liquor, and business sales receipts estimated to be worth more than RM2,100.

It was said that all arrests and seized items were brought to the Wangsa Maju IPD and the cases were investigated under Section 4(1) of the Federal Territory Entertainment Act, Section 6(1)(c) and Section 39(b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, Regulation 25 of the National Registration Regulations 1990, and Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants. — Bernama
